Schwab Photog. is visual diary, land conservation/stewardship activism and a career in the photographic arts. Owned and operated by Sarah Schwab.
Sarah was raised in prairie lands, in Brush! Colorado. Her home town is on the ancestral grounds of the Cheyenne (Tséstho’e) the Sioux (Očhéthi Šakówiŋ) the Arapaho (hinono’eino’ biito’owu’) the Ute (Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ ) and the Lipan Apache (Ndé Kónitsąąíí Gokíyaa) people.
Her first after school job was assisting the local portrait photographer at his studio and on assignments. After graduating HS, Sarah earned an Associates Degree in 2011 in the Applied Science of Professional Photography from Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Following graduation from CMC, Sarah interned and became staff at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado. Here, she received an immersion education into the more conceptual zone of art-making and interacted with a diverse community made of artists of all mediums.
After a trip abroad documenting a non-profit in Nepal, Sarah moved to Telluride in 2013. There she founded Schwab Photog. as a photography services business and has operated for a decade!
Sarah now lives in Ridgway, Colorado with her long time partner Josh. She photographs portraits, landscapes, events, weddings and more on the ancestral lands of the Navajo (Diné Bikéyah), the Pueblos and Ute (Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱) peoples.
